Charity walk plea for help & support
Lee Downie & Chris Firmigerare going to be completing a cancer charity walk in aid of the charity Teens Unite.
Lee and Chris are to walk 192 miles over 12 days, they will begin in the first weeks of August and are both looking to get as fit as possible before hand.
Chris had cancer for several years, having several different types of chemo, radio, drug trails and transplants. Chris went into remission a few times before he was told it was Terminal. Chris managed to get the hospital to give him one last chance of treatment; a fairly new type which is was advised he would only have 50/50 chance of surviving the treatment and less than 5% being here in four years time. That was nearly 3 years ago. Chris is now looking forward to facing his new challenge and pushing his body to other new extremes.
Chris' brother was also diagnosed with exactly the same illness, same type, same form, same place and at the same age. Sadly he is no longer with us, but he was very brave and thanks to the 'Teens Unite' he had some of the best days of his life during some of the most difficult.
